Curious about Medication for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD)? Want to start MOUD in your practice? Started already and would like more guidance/support? This tele-education program is for YOU! The Vanderbilt University Medical Center Addiction Division in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences has developed a comprehensive curriculum to support providers to start or expand Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for Opioid Use Disorders (OUD). This tele-learning program (ECHO) covers key aspects of prescribing (e.g., overview of OUD and MOUD, induction, specifics of dosing, MOUD and co-occurring disorders, MOUD with special populations, etc.), psychosocial supports (Motivational Interviewing, Harm Reduction, co-occurring disorders, etc.) and clinic-level resources/skills (screening, monitoring, workforce staffing, billing, etc.). Join us! This tele-learning (ECHO) program is funded by Tennessee Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services. The curriculum was developed by David Marcovitz, MD, Reid Finlayson, MD, Jule West, MD and others. Target Audience: This tele-education program (ECHO) was developed to support rural primary care providers to start or expand MOUD treatment. However, attendance is open to and relevant for all providers and clinic staff in any context that are interested in starting or expanding MOUD for OUD.


Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, you should be able to:

  1. Understand the diagnosis and management of opioid use disorder (OUD) that includes but is not limited to: Overview of OUD, FDA approved treatments, specific Dosing
  2. Determine the implications for the often co-occurring other substance use disorders
  3. Understand MOUD in the management of patients withing special populations such as patients with chronic pain, perioperative pain, pregnancy and adolescents.
  4. Improve your understanding and clinical application of psycho-social intervention techniques, including motivational interviewing.
  5. Understand clinical application of psycho-intervention techniques with trauma disorders and administer trauma informed care,
  6. Learn and apply clinic-level resources/skills including to presentation on legal topics.
  7. Understand the utilization and application of case management and social work for wrap-around comprehensive care plans.
