Objectives
After participating in this CME activity, participants should be able to describe and discuss:

  1. Issues of patient safety and error reduction when caring for sick neonates.
  2. The S.T.A.B.L.E. mnemonic and the risk factors for and the recommended management of neonatal hypoglycemia, temperature instability, respiratory distress, shock and sepsis during the post-resuscitation and/or pre-transport period.
  3. The emotional support to families of sick neonates and the evaluation of care provided by the neonatal healthcare providers pre, during and following transport.
