The ECMO program at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt is hosting the 32nd Annual Specialist Education in Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (SEECMO) Conference in Nashville, Tennessee May 20-22, 2022. The conference is designed with a focus on the bedside specialist and has a goal to attract specialists from neonatal, pediatric and adults. Specialists may include registered nurses, respiratory therapists, perfusionists, advanced practice nurses as well as neonatal, pediatric, cardiac and adult critical care providers.


Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, you should be able to:

  1. Recognize options to assist with fluid removal and renal clearance on extracorporeal support.
  2. Compare strategies for early mobility in the critical care setting and special considerations for the ECMO patient.
  3. Illustrate different circuit configurations discussing the various options it affords.
  4. Describe and discuss role of plasmapheresis in sepsis
  5. Describe and discuss how to build ECMO transport
  6. Describe and discuss role of anticouagulation
  7. Describe and discuss addition of of oxygenator to VAD Circuit
  8. Describe and discuss specialists changing ECMO circuits
