The Perioperative Medicine Seminar Series presents topics in a case-based format related to all areas of perioperative management of the surgical patient, including: - Prehabilitation and optimization - Smoking cessation, anemia management, and nutrition - Medical management of the surgical patient, including neurologic, cardiopulmonary, endocrine, hematologic systems - ERAS pathway creation and implementation - Opioid minimization and management of patients with chronic opioid use - Auditing and understanding outcomes - Palliative Care - Economics of perioperative care.


ACCME Objectives
  1. Have increased knowledge related to the most current evidence-based practices for perioperative patients.
  2. Discuss the impact of frailty on perioperative outcomes.
  3. Describe strategies and expected timelines for medical optimization of high-risk surgical candidates.

ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. After attending this event, 80% of participants who completed the evaluation will self-report an increase in the ability to describe, discuss, and implement a process for generating ideas, researching topics, and implementing guidelines that pertain to perioperative management.
