ANCC - American Nurses Credentialing Center (8.33 hours), Non-Physician Attendance (8.33 hours)


This course will be offered on several occasions during at various times and for various hospitals in Tennessee and Kentucky. Presentations by Vanderbilt faculty focus on the latest research about and discussion of challenging cases of newborns at time of delivery. After participating in this CNE activity, participants will have increased knowledge regarding patient safety and error reduction when caring for sick neonates, the S.T.A.B.L.E. mnemonic and the risk factors for and the recommended management of neonatal hypoglycemia, temperature instability, respiratory distress, shock and sepsis during the post-resuscitation and/or pre-transport period, and the emotional support to families of sick neonates and the evaluation of care provided by the neonatal healthcare providers pre, during and following transport.


ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. After attending this event, 80% of participants who complete the evaluation will self-report increased knowledge related to the most current clinical guidelines for the evaluation of newborns at the time of delivery.
