The Neuro-Oncology Brain Tumor Conference is offered every Monday from 8:00 to 9:00 am in 10T3 Conference Room, VUMC. Each session provides opportunities for attendings, fellows, and residents to examine current cases and discuss strategies for evaluation and management, considering current practice guidelines, recent research findings, and opportunities for improvement based on recent QI studies. Brain Tumor Board is a multidisciplinary conference where members of the clinical team meet to review cases of patients with brain tumors and to discuss treatment options. The target audience includes adult and pediatric neurosurgeons, neuro-oncologists, neuro-radiologists, neuro-pathologists, neurosurgery residents, neuro-oncology residents, neuro-radiology residents and other allied health personnel. Cases are referred from across Tennessee and the adjoining states. After participating in this CME activity, participants should be able to the proper diagnosis, evaluation and management of patients with melanoma, the role of surgery and radiation therapy in localized melanoma, and the role of medical oncology and emerging therapies in melanoma.

Objective(s): 1 Describe and discuss options for pre-surgical, operative, and post-surgical treatment for current brain tumor patients 2 Analyze the appropriateness and effectiveness of options considering current practice guidelines, recent clinical trials, past local experience, and local consensus best practice if relevant guidelines and research findings do not exist 3 Determine appropriate strategy for each patient reviewed based on the analysis and the patient’s diagnosis and condition
