Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, you should be able to:

  1. Discuss evidence of the opioid epidemic and challenges with safe prescribing of CPDs.
  2. Will state 10 reasons for misprescribing CPDs.
  3. Describe and discuss current information on proper prescribing practices of controlled substances, substance use and misuse, and clinical practice guidelines.
  4. Will apply SBIRT within clinical case scenarios.
  5. Apply SBIRT and MI in clinical practice scenarios.
  6. Will improve their knowledge on pre-post-tests.
  7. Will identify areas of change for individual and office-based practices.
  8. Identify individual risk behaviors associated with misprescribing practices and compare and contrast the 10 misprescribing practices of providers
  9. Effectively identify, refer and/or manage the care of patients with pain and substance use.
