This meeting is meant to serve as an internal review committee managing safety issues in the perioperative arena. These include review of patient harm events, veritas reports, medication errors, etc. In addition, our group is committed to supporting quality improvement projects throughout the perioperative space from attendings, nurse leaders/staff, residents and fellows to improve our care of children. The group is attended by representatives from surgery and anesthesia, both physicians and nurses as well as the perioperative leaders of Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. We also plan and review topics for the quarterly MM&I conferences at MCJCHV.

Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, you should be able to:

  1. Describe, discuss, and implement a process for generating ideas, researching topics, and implementing guidelines that pertain to standardized approaches to improved patient safety.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn up to 1.00 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit.

Effective 7/1/2024, this series will begin awarding ABA MOCA® credit: This activity contributes to the CME component of the American Board of Anesthesiology’s redesigned Maintenance of Certification in AnesthesiologyTM (MOCA®) program, known as MOCA 2.0®. Please consult the ABA website, www.theABA.org, for a list of all MOCA 2.0 requirements.

Effective 7/1/2024, this series will begin awarding ABS Continuous Certification credit: Successful completion of this CME activity enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME requirement of the American Board of Surgery’s Continuous Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.

PLEASE NOTE: This regularly scheduled series does not award MOC II, MOCA®, or Continuous Certification credit for the month of December.
