Objectives
After participating in this CME activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Identify the etiology of the morbidity/mortality occurring within the Department of Anesthesiology and designate the event as provider error secondary to deviation from standard of care/practice, patient disease/pre-existing cause, systems issues, or other process.
  2. Identify known modalities for treating similar types of cases via review of the medical literature.
  3. Plan action items for correction of problem if necessary and prevention of similar future events.
