AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (2.00 hours), Non-Physician Attendance (2.00 hours)


This two-hour course will be offered monthly on the 2nd Wednesday from 9:00am to 11:00am in VUH Anatomy Lab, Medical Center North (MCN) at VUMC. Presentations by Vanderbilt faculty focus the latest research and discussion of challenging cases of common and challenging conditions presented by patients in the emergency and trauma settings. The skill of laryngoscopy, endotracheal intubation and surgical airway techniques are all perishable and must be practiced in order to remain proficient. The goal of the lab is to build the baseline level of skill thru repetition and hands on experience for each attendee.


Objectives

After participating in this CME activity, participants should be able to describe and discuss approaches to:


  1. Achieving first pass success with straight blade laryngoscopy
  2. Achieving first pass success with curved blade laryngoscopy
  3. Performing one of three surgical airway techniques
