This activity is for primary care physicians (family medicine, internal medicine, med/peds), advanced practice nurses, physician assistants, and other pediatric care providers who currently provide care for children at risk for autism spectrum disorder, or who want to better serve this population, You will participate in live monthly videoconferencing sessions that will each last 60 min. This project is sponsored by the HRSA grant entitled "Innovations in Care Coordination for Children and Youth with Autism Spectrum Disorder and Other Developmental Disabilities Program: The Tennessee Cares for Autism Spectrum Disorder Navigation Network. This program creates a novel system for supporting primary care identification and treatment across low-resources and underserved communities. This monthly live video conference will provide the opportunity for primary care providers to learn and discuss a range of topics related to early identification, diagnostic triage, and follow-up care for children at risk for autism spectrum disorder and their families. The sessions will include brief didactic presentations followed by guided break out discussions. Presentations will be provided by faculty experts, caregivers, community providers, and other content experts on autism-specific issues, specifically targeting underserved populations. Session recordings and associated resources will be archived and disseminated to participants. These sessions will help build competence and confidence in community providers who care for children with autism and their families. Topics will include: • Training in brief interactive measures and telediagnostic consultation • Providing guidance for services and parent resources • How to increase access to services (Early Intervention, ABA) • How to better reach underserved communities (low resource, linguistically diverse • Culturally sensitive disabilities care • Post diagnosis medical follow up • Managing co-occurring medical/psychiatric conditions For more information, please contact Dr. Jeffrey Hine, Director of VKC / TRIAD Primary Care Outreach [email protected]
