The VEI Academic Seminar Series hosts distinguished scientists and clinician-scientists from Medical Centers and Eye Institutes throughout the United States for a day of interacting with our faculty. The day culminates in a seminar attended by: clinical faculty from all clinical divisions of the Vanderbilt Eye Institute (e.g. retina, glaucoma, cornea, general ophthalmology and neuro-ophthalmology), basic science faculty from the departments of Ophthalmology, Pharmacology, Psychology and Biomedical Engineering as well as trainees associated with Ophthalmology practice or research, including Ophthalmology residents, postdoctoral research fellows and graduate students from Pharmacology, Neuroscience and Cell Biology.


Objectives
After participating in this CME activity, participants should be able to describe and discuss:

  1. 1. Recent research findings in ocular disease as it relates to patient care.
  2. 2. Potential developments in treatments for patients with ocular disease.
  3. 3. New approaches and new techniques that can be applied to both the practice of evidence-based medicine and the conduct of bench science in ocular disease.
