This course includes speakers from Vanderbilt Children's Hospital, Vanderbilt Kennedy Center, and invited outside lecturers presenting educational lectures and small group discussion relevant to advancing the practice of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine physicians. Course topics include updates on research presented in the Journal of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine, new approaches and populations for rhizotomy, early mobility and involvement of pediatric rehabilitation services in the NICU and PICU, and disability awareness and education.


Objectives
After completing this educational activity, learners will be able to:

  1. Identify current research opportunities within the field of Pediatric Rehabilitation
  2. Describe new rhizotomy approaches and outcomes
  3. Describe strategies for promoting early rehabilitation involvement in the NICU and PICU
  4. Identify tools for measuring functional outcomes in the acute setting
  5. Distinguish the specific impact of disability on health disparities and health equity in terms of access and outcomes experienced, including the recognition and rejection of ableism
  6. Evaluate practical approaches to implement educational activities in participants' local institutions
