This is a two-day course that provides the critical care nurse with a review of the AACN’s core curriculum. The AACN Test Plan/Blueprint for the exam is used to provide central knowledge of care provided in the ICU with review of nursing care and interventions for the critical care provider. This course is designed to assist with preparation of the nurse to take the CCRN certification exam by the following objectives: Describe the physiologic anatomy, pathophysiologic alterations and patient assessment for each system. Describe assessment, diagnostic tools and therapeutic interventions relevant to patients in the ICU setting. Demonstrate application of critical thinking skills and patient advocacy as outlined in the AACN Synergy Model of Patient Care. Discuss and practice test-taking skills with practice questions.


ANCC Learning Outcomes
  1. After participating in this event, 80% of learners who complete the evaluation will self-report an increase in knowledge related to topics on the Critical Care Nursing Certification examination.
