Pediatric specific trauma resuscitations are reviewed by the staff and by the individuals involved in a particular case for learning and quality purposes only. In a monthly resuscitation review conference, actual footage is presented to the trauma team members, specific aspects of a resuscitation are critiqued, and supplemental didactic information is presented. Digital recording allows analysis of: 1) priorities during the resuscitation; 2) cognitive integration of the workup by the team leader; 3) physical integration of the workup by the team leader; 4) team member adherence to assigned responsibilities, resuscitation time, errors or breaks in technique; and 5) behavior change over time. This meeting is only available for internal VUMC faculty and staff who work in Trauma.



Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, you should be able to describe and discuss:

  1. After participating in this activity, 80% of learners who complete the evaluation will self-report an increase in the topic presented.
  2. Strategies to manage a pediatric patient who has been diagnosed with trauma.
  3. Approaches to monitoring impact of management strategies on patients with specific injury types.
  4. Evaluation strategies to diagnose certain injury types.
  5. Current practice guidelines and treatment for care of the pediatric trauma patient.
  6. Recent research related to trauma treatment.


Vanderbilt University Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn up to 1.00 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit.
