Sports Medicine Fellow Lecture Series is offered on scheduled Wednesdays from 6:30 to 7:30 am via Teams teleconference. Format includes lecture presentations and case discussion by VUMC Department of Orthopedic Surgery Faculty and Fellows. The purpose of this lecture series is to expand and reinforce knowledge about the evaluation and management of common and uncommon injuries sustained by patients during athletic activities as well as review the ACGME core curriculum for Sports Medicine fellows. After participating in Sports Medicine Fellow Lecture Series, participants should be able to describe and discuss the diagnosis and evaluation of patients with injuries sustained in athletic activities, the criteria for determining if injury management should include pharmacologic management, physical therapy, and/or surgery, and, strategies for implementing newer approaches to diagnosis, evaluation, and management of sports-related injuries.


Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, you should be able to:

  1. Diagnosis and evaluation of patients with injuries sustained in athletic activities
  2. Criteria for determining if injury management should pharmacologic management, physical therapy, and/or surgery
  3. Strategies for implementing newer approaches to diagnosis, evaluation, and management of sports-related injuries
