Attendees will take on one of the hardest aspects of communication in the clinical setting—receiving and giving feedback. We will explore why it can be emotionally difficult to receive and give feedback, and how to deliver it effectively— tackling some difficult scenarios for giver and receiver and learning the legal responsibilities and implications.


Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, you should be able to:

  1. Understand how the delivery of feedback to learners impacts patient care
  2. Assess one’s own strengths and weaknesses in the learning environment
  3. Learn to evaluate learner levels in different tasks and encounters
  4. Describe and understand barriers to giving and receiving effective feedback
  5. Learn and utilize tools that help overcome barriers
  6. Understand legal responsibilities and implications in giving feedback
