Online class reconsidering the standard approach to treating opioid exposed newborns by identifying the trend in the pharmacological treatment of opioid exposed newborns; discussing the differences between the Finnegan scoring tool and the Eat Sleep Console (ESC) approach; training on how use of the ESC approach may decrease the need for pharmacological care; and identifying ways to include the mother in the care of the opioid exposed newborn.


Objectives
After participating in this CME activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe and discuss the trend in pharmacological treatment of opioid exposed newborns (OEN).
  2. Describe and discuss the the differences between the Finnegan scoring tool and Eat Sleep Console (ESC).
  3. Describe and discuss how the use of the ESC approach may decrease need for pharmacologic treatment for OEN through optimization of non-pharmacologic care.
  4. Describe and discuss ways to include the mom and family in the care of the OEN.
