Online educational module providing training for tracking Developmental Milestones in the opioid exposed newborn (OEN) and early intervention services available for the OEN and the OEN's family.


Objectives
After participating in this CME activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Describe and discuss what typical and usual development is for infants is from 0 through 24 months of age.
  2. Describe and discuss the differences in development and behavior for children with opioid exposures.
  3. Describe and discuss identifying when typical milestones are not demonstrated by an opioid exposed newborn (OEN) and when to address potential delays.
  4. Describe and discuss what steps to take to assist with developmental delays in the OEN.
  5. Describe and discuss services the Tennessee Early Intervention Services (TEIS) provides to children and families in Tennessee.
  6. Describe and discuss where TEIS points of entry offices are located and who to contact to make a referral.
  7. Describe and discuss what information is needed to make a referral to TEIS and what happens after the referral is made.
  8. Describe and discuss what occurs during the evaluation appointment and what is included in the Individualized Family Service Plan (IFSP).
  9. Describe and discuss principles of early intervention.
