The Vanderbilt Memory and Alzheimers Center Lecture Series is offered every other month on the 3rd Tuesday from 8:15 to 9:15 pm in Light Hall 208 at VUMC. Each session provides opportunities for Center clinicians and staff to hear about recent advances in memory and Alzheimers research and discuss application of these advances in patient care. After participating in the lecture series, Center clinicians and staff should be able to describe and discuss evidence-based strategies for recognizing and diagnosing prodromal dementia and clinical dementia, including the most common form of dementia (Alzheimer’s disease), approaches for identifying risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders, methods to prevent Alzheimer’s disease, technological advances, especially neuroimaging and biomarkers, that have potential for improving diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and monitoring of disease progression over time, and emerging research findings in the diagnosis and treatment of Alzheimer’s disease For Don


Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, you should be able to:

  1. Describe evidence-based strategies for recognizing and diagnosing prodromal dementia and clinical dementia, including the most common form of dementia (Alzheimer’s disease)
  2. Understand approaches for identifying risk factors for Alzheimer’s disease and related disorders
  3. Understand methods to prevent Alzheimer’s disease
  4. Define technological advances, especially neuroimaging and biomarkers, that have potential for improving diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease and monitoring of disease progression over time
