This Continuing Education activity is targeted to the broad multidisciplinary team who care for children with cancer and blood disorders, including physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, psychosocial providers, among others. Attendees from each discipline will learn alongside one another and build a better understanding of ethical issues that occur in caring for this patient population. There will be dedicated time in each session to discuss how to improve collaborative efforts to improve communication and reduce distress that results from these ethical issues.


Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, you should be able to:

  1. Report knowledge of the clinical ethics consultation service and how to call for consultation.
  2. Have Increase knowledge and awareness of relevant laws, ethical codes/principles, evidence and guidelines, as applicable to the practice of PHO.
  3. Self-report intention to incorporate new knowledge into clinical practice.
  4. Describe and discuss steps they can take to improve multidisciplinary team communication about ethical dilemmas they encounter in clinical practice.
