Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology Conference is offered weekly. Participants will engage in education on strategies for managing the challenging cardiac surgery patient, multi-disciplinary approaches to peri-operative care and address patient care issues that overlap specialties and how these relate patient outcomes. A variety of topics from researchers in several disciplines from across the VU and VUMC institutions will be covered.


Objectives
After participation in this educational activity, you should be able to describe and discuss:

  1. Evidence-based approaches to the peri-operative management of cardiac surgery patients
  2. Evidence-based approaches to administering blood products in the peri-operative setting
  3. Evidence-based approaches for using transesophageal echocardiogram in the peri-operative setting
  4. Strategies for managing the challenging cardiac surgery patient
  5. The multi-disciplinary approach to peri-operative care and address patient care issues that overlap specialties
