During this MMI, we will identify the etiology of morbidity/mortality on the pediatric critical care medical/surgical service and assign outcome as technical error, system error, or patient disease related. We will review best-practice and current evidence-based approaches to care for identified morbidity/mortality in critically ill patients. We will create and assign initiatives to improve care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and reduce morbidity and mortality for future patients.


Objectives

After participating in this educational activity, participants should be able to:

 

  1. Identify the etiology of morbidity/mortality on the pediatric critical care medical/surgical service and assign outcome as technical error, system error, or patient disease related.
  2. Review best-practice and current evidence-based approaches to care for identified morbidity/mortality in critically-ill patients.
  3. Create and assign initiatives to improve care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and reduce morbidity and mortality for future patients.
