AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (1.00 hours), Non-Physician Attendance (1.00 hours)

The Pediatric Echocardiography Conference is offered every monday from 7:30 to 8:30 AM in the Pediatric Cardiology Echo Reading Room in the Doctors’ Office Tower, Monroe Carrell Jr. Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. These conferences will address specific topics within echocardiography. The sessions will include a didactic review of the echocardiographic topic selected, and review of individual echocardiograms to demonstrate the teaching points included in the didactic portion of the conference. The content of the didactic sessions will focus on best practices for assessment of congenital heart disease by echocardiography. It is expected that the sonographers and physicians attending this conference will be actively involved in simulated “echocardiographic interpretation” of cases in these sessions and will be able to then incorporate the knowledge acquired into their daily practices of echocardiography.

Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, you should be able to:

  1. Current echocardiographic techniques that may be used to evaluate pediatric patients
  2. Limitations of these techniques, and when other modalities would be better used for patient assessment
  3. Specific echocardiographic features of specific heart lesions and be able to incorporate this knowledge into their own performance and interpretation of echocardiograms

Vanderbilt University Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
