The Cath Lab Morbidity and Mortality (M&M) Conference is an integral component of the Cath Lab Quality Assessment and Improvement (QA/QI) program. The conference reviews cath lab complications and in-hospital events following invasive cardiovascular procedures by a formal phase of care (pre-procedure, intra-procedure, post-procedure) analysis to achieve consensus regarding preventability of event. The aim is quality improvement and the process is meant to be non-punitive. Cath Lab M&M is separate from Departmental/Division M&M.

This educational activity received no commercial support. 



Objectives
After participating in this CME activity, participants should be able to:

  1. Analyze a less than optimal outcome with specific focus on the systems issues which lead to the poor outcome.
  2. Evaluate role/place of the identified systems issues within the complex medical system at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
  3. Participate in the multidisciplinary process of systems analysis and modification to eliminate factors that contribute to less than optimal outcomes.


Vanderbilt University Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
