STATEMENT OF NEED & LEARNING OBJECTIVES Many practitioners still prescribe medication and recommend surgical intervention based on outdated principles and beliefs. The goal of Pearls is to provide updates on current medical and surgical treatments available for all the common ophthalmic diseases (glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy); to encourage therapeutic decisions based on sound evidence-based medicine rather than anecdotal reports, and to highlight prospective multi-center studies to enable physicians to practice sound evidence-based medicine. After participating in this CME activity, participants should be able to describe and discuss: 1. Managing patients with retinal disease 2. Incorporating new technology in cataract and refractive surgery 3. Diagnosing and treating common neuro-ophthalmology disorders 4. Addressing new issues in the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma 5. Managing difficult anterior problems 6. Incorporating the latest treatment options for orbital disease What types
