VUMC AS physicians and pharmacists will meet regularly through video conference with physician champions within each practice to understand baseline prescribing rates and local barriers to antibiotic stewardship and design customized AS implementation strategies.


Objectives
After participating in this educational activity, you should be able to:

  1. Discuss the importance of appropriate antimicrobial use in the outpatient setting
  2. List the guideline-concordant treatment recommendations for pediatric pharyngitis, sinusitis, otitis media, pneumonia, urinary tract infection, and viral upper respiratory infections
  3. Understand when to use various diagnostic tests in outpatient encounters, including the rapid strep antigen and respiratory pathogen panels


Vanderbilt University Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Vanderbilt University Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum 1.00 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 1.00 Medical Knowledge (Part II) MOC points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABIM MOC credit.

Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn up to 1.00 MOC points in the American Board of Pediatrics’ (ABP) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. It is the CME activity provider’s responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit.

PLEASE NOTE: In order to receive CME or MOC II credit for this course, the evaluation component must be completed. To receive MOC II credit, the evaluation must be completed by November 30th. Any evaluations completed after this date will receive CME credit only. Evaluations can be found in your CloudCME portal under the Evaluations & Certificates tab. After you have completed the evaluation, make sure to click the "Claim MOC" box for MOC II credit if you have previously set up your account to award MOC II. 

PLEASE NOTE: This course does not award MOC II credit for the month of December. MOC credit can only be reported in the year in which the credit was earned.
