AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™ (14.00 hours), Non-Physician Attendance (14.00 hours)

The established group of networks and scientists create an ideal environment to support and enrich career development for SJS/TEN investigators at all levels including those on or aspiring to obtain research fellowship awards, K awards, K to R transition or the development of larger programmatic research funding. The scientific sessions will address new areas of clinical unmet need, cutting edge technologies and innovative translational approaches by combining the involvement of those currently doing research outside of the field of SJS/TEN with presentations from established SJS/TEN researchers. This cross-pollination is an innovative way to fast-track scientific progress and future collaborations. Finally, building on the success of the past two meetings SJS/TEN 2021 will utilize community engagement to identify unmet clinical, scientific and psychosocial needs. For the first time this will include a significant component of behavioral sciences of SJS/TEN in the main program where scientists will present their research from developing an item pool for patient reported outcomes to quantify the psychosocial impact of surviving SJS/TEN and to further our understanding of the cognitive, behavioral, emotional, vocational and interpersonal impact of SJS/TEN. The entire program will also involve SJS survivors and families with a patient working group on the afternoon of day 1 and a report back at the end of day 2 of the meeting.

Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, you should be able to:

  1. Describe and discuss evidence-based strategies to prevent the occurrence of SJS/TEN
  2. Identify unmet clinical, scientific and psychosocial needs through engaging with the SJS/TEN community
  3. Contribute to the development and growth of a collaborative interactive SJS/TEN research network
  4. Incorporate in your work cutting edge, innovative and translational research findings and techniques to advance research and patient care in SJS/TEN
