This day-long course is offered quarterly based as needed at VICTR, 2525 West End Avenue, Nashville. The course is designed to introduce residents, fellows, post-docs, faculty, and other research and administrative staff at VU/VUMC and Meharry Medical College to generally accepted principles of clinical and translational research design and implementation as well as applicable federal regulations and Vanderbilt policy. After participating in this CME activity, clinician participants should be able to describe and discuss how to conduct clinical research according to the generally accepted principles of clinical and translational research, the applicable federal regulations and VUMC research policies, and how to be compliant with both, and how and where to find resources available for clinical research at VUMC and at Meharry Medical College.


Objectives

After participating in this CME activity, participants should be able to describe and discuss:


  1. approaches to conducting basic science, clinical, and translational research according to the generally accepted principles of research
  2. actions to be compliant with applicable federal regulations and VU/VUMC and Meharry research policies
  3. sources of resources available for clinical research at VU/VUMC and at Meharry Medical College
