The Vanderbilt Women’s Heart Center Symposium is a half-day, case-based educational program developed to strengthen clinician knowledge of cardiovascular care of female patients. Expert faculty from multi-disciplinary backgrounds will provide the latest information relevant to cardiovascular care of the female patient across the life course. This educational event is well-suited for physicians, advance practice practitioners, and nurses from specialties relevant to women’s heart health, including cardiology, internal medicine, family practice, OB/GYN, anesthesia and neurology. The first session will focus on care of the post-menopausal patient, covering key issues including hormone replacement therapy, the approach to care of the geriatric female patient, stroke prevention in women, and current guidelines for diagnosis and management of chest pain in women. The second session will provide multi-disciplinary insight into a team-based approach to the pregnant patient with cardiovascular disease. This will include discussion of cardiovascular risk stratification in pregnant patients, delivery planning for patients with cardiovascular disease, and optimal approach to anesthetic care for pregnant patients with heart disease. Panel discussions will provide for opportunity to ask questions. CME and MOC credits will be offered.
